Online auctions have set start and end times as well as predefined starting bids and bid increments. Registered users may bid on active auctions once logged in. You may also place a 'proxy bid' of your highest bid amount and the system will bid automatically for you. Automatic bids will be the lowest amount required to keep you the winning bidder up to your maximum bid amount. If outbid you will receive an instant on-screen notice as well as an outbid notice in your email.
TIP:
By using the 'Watch this Item' button you can add the items you are interested in to your watch list. Items you are bidding on are added to this list automatically.
Instead of having to sort through all of the items in an online auction clicking on the links at the top right for your watched items or items you are bidding on displays only those items you are interested in! Be sure to look at all items first of course, but these lists can greatly simplify the bidding process for you. Now, get bidding!
Last Second Bidding: Because some Operating Systems are slower than others, It is always a good idea to bid before the last 10 seconds to make sure your bid is accepted..
Proxi-Bids: Proxi-bids are used when people can't always be watching the auction...Just put in the highest bid you want to go on an item and the computer will bid for you when neccessary...
Soft Close: Each lot has an ending timer that counts down to zero which ends the sale of that lot....If someone bids in the last 30 seconds of a lot, the lot goes into soft close and automatically adds 45 seconds to the final timer..This is done so people with very high speed internet cannot slip in a last second bid
